The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially debunked viral reports suggesting that staff of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) have been authorized to conduct overseas operations.
The Ministry issued the clarification following widespread headlines claiming that approval had been granted for DVLA officials to travel to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany to register and renew driving licenses for Ghanaians in the diaspora.
In a worded statement, the Ministry categorically denied these claims, noting that it has neither issued directives to Ghana’s diplomatic missions nor granted approval to any entity for such an arrangement.
”The Ministry is not aware of any new government policy to that effect,” the statement read, adding that there is no official record within the Ministry supporting the purported policy shift.
The Ministry further emphasized that there has been no formal engagement, no policy brief, and crucially no financial commitment made toward such an initiative. For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry confirmed that no irrefutable evidence exists to support the claims being circulated.
Reiterating its stance on governance, the Ministry assured the public of its unwavering commitment to transparency, financial prudence, and the structured delivery of public services.
