The National Scout and Guide Fellowship, (NSGF) Ghana, has held its annual general meeting on the 7th of December 2019 at the Ghana Armed force Officers Mess in Accra.
The annual meeting was the first under the new executives who were elected into office in September 2018 and was held to present financial reports, approve, fraternize and discuss the performance of the fellowship for the year under review.
In his address, National President Douglas Prosper Bani lauded the executives for their unrelenting support over the period he has been in office.
He said, after taking over in September 2018, he has been working together with the Ghana Scout Association (GSA) and Ghana Girl Guide Association (GGGA) to enhance scouting in Ghana.
The three organizations according to him constitute the pillar of scouting in Ghana and a failure to work to bring all groups under one umbrella in order to transform their communities would mean they would not achieve the wish of their Founder Baden Powell.
Mr. Bani however noted efforts to advance the course of the organization are however confronted with challenges of increasing membership and the mobilization of resources for their activities.
The former Interior Minister stated that, the Scouts and Guide Fellowship will participate in the 2020 election by ensuring an election free of violence, intimidation and work to create an environment of peace before during and after the election as they did in the 2016 elections
He also disclosed that, currently the Fellowship is preparing for the 29th International Scout Guide Fellowship World Conference in Madrid, Spain in August 2020, and hope that Ghana will win the bid to host the International Scout Guide Fellowship World Conference in 2023.
Prosper Bani also reiterates the need to engage in activities geared towards responding to the threat of climate change.
He urged government and non-governmental organization to also include an integrated way of climate change management in their development and social programs and also increase advocacy on the phenomenon in churches, schools, and social gatherings
The meeting was well attended by past and current executives and members across the country. The Annual General Meeting also saw the attendance of some executives of Ghana Scout Association (GSA) and Ghana Girl Guide Association (GGGA) who were all there and gave a solidarity messages.
