The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Opoku-Agyemang has slammed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for abandoning developmental projects initiated by previous administrations.
This attitude of the NPP, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said was in stark contrast to the NDC which has an impressive track record of completing projects started by previous governments.
According to Opoku-Agyemang, the NDC prioritizes the completion of initiatives started by previous administrations, while the NPP is known for abandoning such projects.
During a campaign tour in the Eastern Region, the Chief of Paakro, Nana Ahingwah II, expressed concern over the frequent abandonment of projects by successive governments.
The Chief lamented that such trends impede both development and the well-being of communities.
He pointed out that the previous Mahama administration had made significant progress with the construction of a nursing quarter in the Paakro community, and left the project about 90% complete.
According to him, this project has been abandoned for the past eight years.
In response to the issue, Professor Opoku-Agyemang reiterated that the NDC, unlike the NPP, was committed to continuing developmental projects initiated by prior governments.
She cited the example of late President John Atta Mills, who honored the work of his predecessor, former President John Kufuor, by completing the George Bush Highway, a major infrastructure project that began during Kufuor’s administration.
She urged Ghanaians to be more assertive in holding their leaders accountable as that was necessary to ensure leaders keep their promises and fulfill their mandates to the people.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang is currently on a two-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region, which is also the home region of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
