The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has officially introduced herself to the Ga Mantse and the Ga Traditional Council as part of efforts to deepen collaboration around cultural festivals and tourism development.
During a courtesy visit, the CEO emphasized the importance of promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage, with a focus on iconic events like Homowo and enhancing the country’s coastal tourism.
“We believe that a number of activities happen on your land, and it is only respectful to come officially, introduce myself as the new CEO, and seek permission to implement our initiatives with your blessing.”

She also highlighted plans to elevate the Homowo Festival to a global stage, noting ongoing preparations for participation in GhanaFest in Columbus, Ohio.
Maame Efua Houadjeto further reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions and local stakeholders to promote tourism and Ghana’s rich cultural identity.
The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Accra into a top-tier tourism destination, citing the city’s unique cultural and historical assets.
He emphasized the potential of iconic sites across the capital—from the popular beaches to heritage landmarks like Usher Fort, James Fort, and the Monkey Sanctuary at Osu.

He urged the Ghana Tourism Authority to refurbish these places and clean the beaches to help attract tourists and boost revenue.
The Ga Mantse also announced that the Authority, along with the Ministry of Tourism, would be provided with office space within the Ga Mantse Palace to facilitate closer collaboration during the Homowo Festival.
