The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division with immediate effect, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into alleged procedural breaches linked to a transit cargo consignment.
According to a press release issued by the Authority, the decision follows preliminary findings from an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026. The operation involved a consignment declared for transit to Niger but reportedly revealed discrepancies in documentation and compliance with established transit procedures.
Management indicated that the irregularities uncovered during the exercise necessitated a detailed internal review to establish the full facts. Initial assessments point to possible procedural lapses, although the Authority emphasised that the investigation remains ongoing.
The GRA stated that the probe will determine the extent of any individual involvement and examine whether there were departures from laid-down Customs protocols. It added that additional officers may be invited to assist with the investigation if required.
The Authority assured stakeholders that appropriate administrative action will be taken upon conclusion of the investigative process, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Reaffirming its commitment to integrity and accountability, the GRA noted that the interdiction reflects its resolve to safeguard national revenue, support the growth of local industries, and promote overall economic development.
Management further assured the public that revenue collection and enforcement procedures will continue to be executed with the highest standards of professionalism and transparency.
