Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Alhaji Inusah Fuseini says there was no way the minority could have gotten Constitutional Instrument 126 annulled but were hoping some members of the majority vote their conscience.
The 106 majority members who were in Parliament yesterday approved the CI, which is operational from today.
The minority only managed 92 votes and has come under intense criticism from some circles for their failure to rally their entire membership of 106 to partake in the vote.

The Tamale Central MP however told Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive that the cards were stacked against the minority from the outset.
He said the minority needed to garner two-thirds of the members present in order to attain their objective of an annulment.
Alhaji Inusah Fuseini said the only hope the minority had was for some majority members to vote according to their conscience.
He said MPs of the ruling New Patriotic Party had in private discussions expressed reservations with the passage of the controversial CI because of the potential to disenfranchise their constituents.
The Tamale Central MP said the three-line whip enforced by the majority during voting on the CI made it impossible for these NPP MPs to vote according to what they believe was the interest of their constituents.
Alhaji Fuseini said the absence of some MPs was because they were unaware the report of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee was going to be handled yesterday after the embarrassing developments last Friday.
According to him the report was presented after the Speaker ruled in favour of a motion for the abridgment of time for the report to be taken.
