A police dispatch rider accompanying an NPP convoy reportedly damaged the windscreen of a vehicle in the convoy of Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Friday 29 November 2024.
The incident occurred between Akuse and Kpong on the Akosombo highway when Professor Opoku-Agyemang and her campaign team were returning from a tour of the Oti Region.
The driver of the Toyota Navara pickup, whose windscreen was damaged, recounted the event in an interview with Radio Gold.
He claimed that while both vehicles were in motion, a dispatch rider escorting NPP party officials threw a stone at his windscreen.
The driver said the actions of the NPP security detail left him astounded as it was unprovoked, reckless and irresponsible.
He said the incident put his life and occupants of the vehicle at risk.
Radio Gold reporter Emmanuel Coffie who was traveling with the NDC vice-presidential candidate, confirmed that there were no injuries to the occupants of the vehicle, despite the damage to the windscreen.
He said the NDC Veep Candidates team is still struggling to come to terms with what necessitated this unprovoked.
