In a compelling keynote address delivered at Crystal Heights International School’s 7th Speech and Prize‑Giving Day, Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann, Dean of the School of Engineering Sciences and Founding Head of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Ghana, inspired young minds to embrace teamwork, continuous learning, and innovation as they journey through their academic pursuits.
Speaking on July 18, 2025 in Ga South Municipality, Amasaman Shikponetele, Prof. Kaufmann emphasized that pioneering progress stems from collective effort rather than individual brilliance. “Innovation is not a one‑man effort or a one‑woman effort,” she stated. She encouraged graduates to utilise team opportunities, highlight the strengths of their peers, and draw insights from mentors and parents. “Don’t try to do everything by yourself because it’s always easier to lean on the strengths and experiences of others.”
Underscoring the importance of bold inquiry and purposeful action, Prof. Kaufmann further advised students:

“Don’t feel you are too young or get discouraged by the things you do not understand. Remain grounded in purpose. … Instead of blindly following what everyone else is doing, have a plan and an expected outcome for everything you set out to do.”
This year’s ceremony honoured over 200 pupils across Kindergarten, Primary, Junior High, and international streams, under the banner “Innovators of tomorrow: Rising with purpose and possibility.”
In his welcome address, School Director Emmanuel Dadzie Entsie celebrated the institution’s growth since its establishment, highlighting investments in modern science labs—chemistry, biology, physics, robotics—and virtual classrooms. These initiatives, he said, are “bridges to broader heights” that empower students in an evolving educational landscape.
Prof. Kaufmann’s message resonated deeply with the ceremony’s theme, reinforcing a dual commitment to collaboration and purpose-driven inquiry. She reminded graduates that true innovation requires asking questions, analysing problems, and steadily building on experience. Drawing inspiration from pioneers such as Alexander Fleming, she stressed the pillars of curiosity, knowledge, persistence, and teamwork—vital elements for societal advancement.
As Crystal Heights celebrates another graduating cohort, the core of Prof. Kaufmann’s counsel rings clear: by working together, asking bold questions, and defining their educational purpose, these young graduates stand poised to become the innovators of Ghana’s future. Through shared strength and continuous learning, they are equipped to meet tomorrow’s challenges with creativity and impact.
