In demonstration of her belief in the right of every child to be provided quality and accessible education, Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang today supported the operations of two institutions for the underprivileged.
While the South Labone Girls Vocational Training Center serves as a home for all categories of children such as rape victims, children from abused homes, rescued children, missing children as well as juvenile offenders, the Makers Disability Foundation located at Dansoman in the Ablekuma West Constituency of the Greater Accra Region mainly provides specialize education for autistic children.
The NDC Running Mate donated assorted items including food stuffs and toiletries to help run the centers.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang told radiogoldlive.com that the donation forms part of her commitment to encouraging private initiatives aimed at ensuring that the background or circumstances do not serve as barriers to the education of the child.
She said even though the state has the mandate to ensure that every Ghanaian child attains a certain level of education, private initiatives have over the years proven helpful where the state has fallen short in the attainment of this objective.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said she has made it a point to support institutions and centers set up to train and educate children from vulnerable and underprivileged backgrounds.

She used the opportunity to interact with some of the children and commended management of the facilities for stepping in to provide the much needed education for children who would have been left out.
The NDC’s vice presidential Candidate said the works of the South Labone Girls Vocational Training Center and the Makers Disability Foundation have proven beneficial to efforts towards reducing vices such as teenage pregnancy, streetism and crime.
