President John Dramani Mahama has said the Tema Integrated Industrial Park (TIIP) will create thousands of jobs, attract private investment and reinforce Ghana’s position as the preferred gateway to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the project, the President described the industrial park as a transformational investment that would drive industrialisation, boost exports and expand employment opportunities for Ghanaians.
“When completed, the park will generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, stimulate private investment and strengthen Ghana’s position as a gateway to the African Continental Free Trade Area,” President Mahama said.
He noted that beyond its economic impact, the project would help develop a new generation of skilled professionals and entrepreneurs capable of driving Ghana’s industrial transformation.
“Beyond the economic benefits, it will nurture a new generation of Ghanaian manufacturers, engineers, technicians, exporters and entrepreneurs,” he stated.
President Mahama reaffirmed government’s commitment to equipping the country’s workforce with the skills required to take advantage of emerging opportunities through continued investment in education and training.
“Government will continue investing in technical education, vocational training and digital skills development to ensure that our youth are prepared for these opportunities,” he said.
The President also commended the institutions and development partners whose collaboration had made the project possible, with special recognition for Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms (Arise IIP).
“I wish to commend all partners and institutions whose dedication has brought us to this important milestone,” he said.
Addressing the project’s developers, President Mahama added, “To our partners at Arise IIP, I express the appreciation of the Government of Ghana for your confidence in our country.”
He said the partnership reflected a common vision for Africa’s economic future, anchored on industrialisation and value addition.
“We value this partnership because it reflects a shared belief that Africa’s future lies in investment, industrialisation and value addition rather than dependence on raw material exports,” he said.
Calling on Ghanaians to embrace the country’s industrial transformation agenda, President Mahama expressed hope that the launch of the industrial park would be remembered as a historic milestone.
“Let future generations look back on this day as a defining moment when Ghana chose to build, manufacture, compete and prosper,” he said.
He concluded by reiterating that government’s 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme would serve as the foundation for a resilient and globally competitive economy.
“Together, through the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, we are building a resilient, productive and globally competitive economy that creates opportunities for all Ghanaians and secures prosperity for generations yet unborn,” President Mahama said.
