www.radiogoldlive.com sources have hinted at a covert ploy to destabilize the campaign of the National Democratic Congress in Assin North by “attacking” three of its lead campaigners.
According to the anonymous sources, the three targets for the planned attack are National Organizer of the NDC Joseph Yamin, its Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande and Deputy National Organizer Kobby Barlon.
The three have been part of a group of national executives who have spent a significant amount of time spearheading the campaign of the NDC to retain the Assin North seat the party lost to a Supreme Court judgement.
One of the executives is said to have been stationed in Assin North over the past one-month campaigning and laying the foundation for a successful campaign to win back the Assin North seat in the 27 June 2023 by-elections.
It is unclear why the three are the targets of such an alleged attack, but the sources insist their intel is credible and have cautioned the three men to seek police protection and take further urgent steps to beef up their security.
The NDC is seeking to retain the seat it won in the 2020 elections through its parliamentary candidate James Gyekye Quayson.

The by-election has become necessary after the Supreme Court declared the 2020 victory of the NDC null and void because their victorious candidate was not qualified to contest the 2020 election because his renunciation certificate from the Canadian authorities delayed.
Mr. Quayson received his certificate on 26 November 2020 but the Supreme Court said he should have had the renunciation certificate handy when he filed his nominations to contest the Assin North parliamentary elections hence he was still a Canadian candidate when he filed the nomination.
Additionally, Mr. Quayson is being criminally prosecuted by the Attorney General Godfred Yeboah dame who believes James Gyekye Quayson should “suffer the fate of Sakande (a former NPP MP for Bawku Central who jailed for holding three nationalities while iin office as MP)”.
Meanwhile, MP for Odododiodio who is a close friend of Mr. Quayson tells the Gold Morning Conversation that Mr. Quayson will win the parliamentary primaries.
