Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has held talks with a delegation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly as part of efforts to advance development in the metropolis.
The delegation, led by Metropolitan Chief Executive, George Arthur and made up of the Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and South paid a New Year courtesy call on the Vice President and conveyed their goodwill, expressing optimism about the government’s ongoing national reset agenda.

Sharing details of the meeting on her social media platforms, the Vice President said discussions focused on an eight-year development plan presented by the Assembly. The plan outlines key priority projects including the refurbishment and operationalisation of the late President Evans Atta Mills Library as well as the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang noted that the engagement also explored areas where government support could enhance economic activity and social vibrancy in Cape Coast, complemented by local fundraising efforts to support development initiatives.

She further urged the Assembly to actively involve residents in decision-making processes to foster a sense of ownership and strengthen public commitment to the city’s development. The Vice President further emphasised the importance of aligning metropolitan development plans with the broader national development agenda.
