“What options are open to government? The question should rather be: what option, if adopted, will re-inject investor confidence in our economy? Even if we find the $3-5billion required, will that help? E-levy which was to have given us some 600m by now has done less than 60m.”
That is the tweet of Gabby Asare Otchere Darko that is attracting a lot of public attention in the wake of the worsening economic situation of Ghanaians.
The situation is getting out of hand with farmers complaining about the cost of farming, food prices on the rise, fuel prices getting out of hand and government struggling to meet its budgetary commitments.
Gabby Asare Otchere Darko’s tweets are seen as a confirmation that government has given up on the prospects of the E-levy as the solution for the economic challenges.
Speaking in an interview with Sena Nombo on the Gold Morning Conversation, Financial Analyst Nii Yarboi Annan says Gabby Otchere Darko’s post exposes the fact that the managers of the economy were suffering from “superiority complex”.
He said the managers of the economy are struggling because they only listen to themselves and believe that their ideas are the best.
Nii Yarboi Annan said the managers of the economy even refuse to listen to public servants who have worked within the economic management public institutions for several years.
