Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Select Committee on Education has described as unfounded President Akufo-Addo’s comparison of results of 2022 Free SHS graduates to 2016 WASSCE results.
President Akufo-Addo in a public address claimed that the 2022 SHS results were better than that of the 2016 WASSCE graduates.
This, the President said was evidence of the fact that the free SHS was producing good educational outcomes.
Speaking to Sena Nombo in an interview on the Gold Morning Conversation, Deputy Ranking member on Parliament’s Education Committee Dr. Clement Apaak said the two results cannot be compared as they are different.
According to him the President compared GHASSCE results to WASSCE results because unlike their 2016 counterparts, the 2022 final SHS examination was organized by WASSCE in Ghana for only Ghanaian students.
He said the 2016 final SHS batch wrote the same papers and were held up to the same high standards as their counterparts in other English peaking West African countries.
