Weija-Gbawe, Ghana – May 23, 2025
The Young Progressive Network, a Civil Society Organization based in the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, has expressed strong support for President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to remain focused on his economic recovery agenda despite criticism from the opposition.
In a press statement issued and signed by Patrick Asford Boadu, the Convener of the Network, the group highlighted recent economic improvements as clear signs that the country is bouncing back.
These include the appreciation of the Ghana cedi, a reduction in fuel prices, and the decision by transport unions to lower transport fares.
“These are tangible indicators that the economy is regaining strength, and Ghanaians are beginning to feel the relief,” Boadu noted.
The group called on President Mahama to ignore what they described as “unwarranted threats and noise” from the opposition party and the Minority in Parliament, led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
According to Boadu, the Minority’s recent criticisms are aimed at distracting the government from its efforts and must not derail the progress being made.
The Young Progressive Network reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that drive national development and called on all citizens to unite behind the government’s recovery efforts.
