“Indeed, the light of the wicked goes out, and the flame of his fire gives no light. The light in his tent is darkened and his lampgoes out above him. His vigorous stride isshortened and his own scheme brings him down.” Job 18: 5 -7.
On the back of the Special Prosecutor’s casesthrown out by an Accra High Court on the basis of lacking substances, Mr Martin Amidu has rather than focusing on the job, resorted to a newly found hobby, writing; in this case, offering unsolicited and needless explanation on the dismissed cases.
Whoeven needs an explanation on this? Perception-filled charges steeped in ‘veiled but glaring vendetta’which iscrushing. Nobody,we have already seen and read in between the lines. It long became known through leading NPP figures and communicatorswho are quick to cite former Bawku Central MP, Adamu Sakande’s incarceration as a reason why Hon Mahama Ayariga is being pursued.
That is given, but even before the ‘Special Persecutor’ proceeded to Court with his first set of perception-filled and vendetta-inspired cases, some notable figures in our society whohad sensedthewicked motive expressed disappointment.
Mentioning“big ticket corruption” cases and others that a sitting Attorney General could not be bold to take up because of the likely closeness to offending appointeesas thereason for which the Office of Special Prosecutor [OSP] has been set up, Lawyer Martin Kpebu indicated that Mahama Ayariga’s cases had fallen below the expectations of Ghanaians.
For his part, Abdul MaliK Kweku Baako said he suspects Martin Amidu is seeking a personal vendetta, tracing it to some occurrences during his Parliamentary vetting.
Mr Amidu had however denied seeking vendetta against Hon Mahama Ayariga, expecting us to believe it. At the height of his denial, Mr Amidu am told has coveted Hon Mahama Ayariga’s driver and tried same on his office Assistant butwas unsuccessful at that. If it is the case, is that healthy?
I have asked myself this question countless timeas to what could get atrue comrade to do this to a ‘son,’a compatriot and a country man, if not sheer hatred.
The Book of Acts 9: 1-2, says Pharisee Saul [Persecutor] was “breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples, went unto the high priest to obtain letters, authorising him to arrest, bound any followers of Jesus Christ in the City of Damascus and to send them to Jerusalem.”
From many accounts, Saul the persecutor at the time appeared pained by Christ’s work andthought he could wipe out the new Christian Churchby persecuting Christ’s followers but failed miserably and had to himself convert to Christianity.
Paul, he later became knownas he completely submitted to Christ.Saul’s case was about a hate-filled villain wholater became a love-filled hero. Arguablythe most industrious of all the disciples, was able to spread the gospel throughout the known world and died propagating the gospel.
Today in real life, the exact opposite of the account about Pharisee Saul iswhat we are witnessing;a love-filled hero who has become hate-filled villain – seeking vainly to persecute NDC persons.
If not, why would anyoneseek to covert his son or brother’s labourers? Why would thisman single out this same son or brother who is a key opposition memberin a supposed prosecution? There are currently26 caseson the table of the SP.If indeed it is national interest work, why hasn’t the SP chosena case that someway, somehow represents balance in the eyes of the public?
For instance, a case[s] which has/haveNPP and NDC appointees who are facing same or different charges, all in an attemptto take away any suspicion that may arise. It is not as though no case like that exists among the 26 listed cases.
There are. A glance at the leaked OSP cases document, at least case number eight [8] on the list has “Mahama Ayariga, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah + 8 others.” Couldn’t the pursuit of this case have saved all of us the suspicions? Why is Mr Martin Amidu not interested in this case? Not an agenda?
According toHE John Mahama, the easiest thing any existing government can do is to investigate and prosecute its political opponents whereas the real job is being able to subject your ownexceedingly corrupt appointees to the same test, a reality checkwhich President Akufo Addo had woefully failedin the named but fresh case examples and countless others unnamed here;
- Vociferous NPP’s Kennedy Agyapong had stated publicly that any investor seeking to meet with the President had to pay $20,000 before having access to the President.
- President Akufo Addo’s friend and financier, Kwesi Nyantakyi in the Tiger Eye video had said that the President and his family are heavily indebted as a result of electioneering campaign and that to recover same, the President’s brother, Bumpty demands 5% of the contract sum of every contract that the Government grants.
Other cases include the President’s cousin, Kevin Ofori Attah, a Presidential staffer and doubles as a contractor whose company had gotten contracts and currently renovating the Accra Sports Stadium, the hurriedly passed new AGM petroleum agreement, the inability of the President’s brother and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Attah to meet his Asset Declaration requirements at a time the President claimed all his appointees had fully declared their assets, the dubious $1.2 billion NIA/ECOWAS card deal and the exorbitant $16.5 million Oslo chancery saga among others.
The above is just a few of the cases that requires Special Prosecutor’s attentionfor which his office must drawits strength from the ACT establishing it in orderto investigate and prosecute offenders.
That said, here we are, unimaginably withour ‘holier than thou’Special Prosecutor himself reported as ‘necodemously’ proceeding to Court and perthe Finance Minister’s narration,in a default judgment, claimed for himself a judgment debtover being sacked as an appointee.
The very things he was up in arms with Alfred Woyome and to an extent the NDC Government; judgment debt in itself, being granted default judgment, etc.
Default Judgement? I personally never thought that any genuine, conscience clean, State committed individual who earned the title “Citizen Vigilante”would ever and for his own benefit take advantage of the samesystem challengesover which he ferociously foughtothers as a gate keeper.
Mr Martin Amidu has a lot to do to prove that he is not what some of us always believe he is.
As for the current Government, it is more than the names behind early days Ponzi schemes. Promisedto never entertain judgement debt payment but as usual doing the very opposite.
By their fruits….! [Mathew 7:20]
