President John Dramani Mahama has announced that his administration has successfully averted a potential power crisis that threatened Ghana’s energy sector.
The previous government’s neglect to arrange enough fuel for thermal plants posed a significant threat to the power supply, especially with the scheduled maintenance on the West African Gas Pipeline.
“Through determined efforts, the government has begun delivering fuel to the thermal plants in the east, ahead of the pipeline shutdown”, President John Dramani Mahama said.
According to the President, this proactive move ensures a stable energy supply, avoiding the looming threat of power outages.
President Mahama commended the new Energy Minister, John Jinapor, for his hard work in addressing the issue promptly.
The President made this announcement during the swearing in of newly approved Ministers:
Haruna Iddrisu – Minister of Education, John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister of Energy, Dr. Casiel Ato Forson – Minister for Finance, Dominic Ayine – Minister for Attorney-General and Justice, Eric Opoku – Minister for Food and Agriculture and Governs Kwame Agbodza – Minister for Roads and Highways.
“Through determined efforts, I can report that we have now averted the looming threats of power outages and begun delivering fuel to the thermal plants in the East in advance of the shutdown of the West African Gas Pipeline.” – President Mahama
