President John Dramani Mahama has convened a high-level Presidential Dialogue with Ghana’s private sector, calling for deeper and more innovative collaboration to accelerate economic growth and position the country as a leading production and trade hub in West Africa.
Addressing captains of industry and senior business leaders, President Mahama stressed that Ghana’s development ambitions can only be realised through bold partnerships between government and the private sector.
“We must work to make Ghana West Africa’s production hub,” the President emphasised, urging businesses to align investment decisions with the country’s broader industrial and trade objectives.
Leveraging AfCFTA for Industrial Growth
President Mahama highlighted Ghana’s hosting of the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat as a strategic advantage that must be fully exploited by local businesses.
He encouraged the private sector to leverage the AfCFTA framework to expand intra-African trade, deepen industrialisation, and enhance Ghana’s competitiveness across regional markets.
According to the President, Ghana’s central geographic location, political stability, and improving macroeconomic environment provide a strong foundation for scaling up manufacturing and driving export-led growth.
Sports Financing as a Development Priority
Beyond trade and industry, President Mahama also drew attention to the importance of sustainable financing for sports development, describing it as a critical yet often overlooked pillar of national progress.
“No country achieves sporting excellence without deliberate funding systems. I invite corporate Ghana to view this not as charity but as a partnership for national development,” he stated.
The Presidential Dialogue forms part of the administration’s broader strategy to strengthen public–private cooperation, mobilise domestic capital, and accelerate Ghana’s transformation into a resilient, production-driven economy.
