President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in the Republic of Korea for a five-day working visit aimed at strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between Ghana and Korea while opening new avenues for trade, investment, and technological cooperation.
The President touched down at the Air Force Base in Seoul at exactly 8:00 p.m. Korea Time, where he was warmly received by Mr. Park Kyongsig, Korean Ambassador to Ghana; Mr. Chung Kwangyong, Director General for the Africa and Middle East Division at Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Kojo Choi, Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea, along with officials from the Ghana Embassy in Seoul.
Strengthening Ghana–Korea Relations
Ghana and South Korea share decades of cordial diplomatic relations built on cooperation in trade, education, technology, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange.
The visit is expected to further deepen these ties while expanding partnerships in critical sectors such as:
Industrial development
Maritime and shipping cooperation
Innovation and digital technology
Human capital and education development.
Key High-Level Engagements
During the visit, President Mahama will hold a bilateral meeting with the President of South Korea, Lee Jae-myung. He will also meet the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, Woo Won-shik.

Highlights of the visit include: Participation in a ship-naming ceremony at Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan.
Delivery of a speech at a conferment ceremony at Yonsei University. An interview with Yonhap News Agency.
An evening meeting with Ghanaians studying and working in South Korea.
Dinner engagements with Korean chief executives and business leaders to explore investment opportunities in Ghana.
