President John Dramani Mahama will today begin a two-day “Resetting Ghana” tour of the Savannah Region aimed at assessing ongoing development projects, engaging residents and outlining government interventions across the region.
The President’s first stop will be at Sawla, where he is expected to launch the National BSTEM initiative for basic schools before embarking on inspection tours of the ongoing Sawla-Wa Highway and the Bole-Tinga road rehabilitation projects being executed under the government’s Big Push Programme.
As part of activities on the first day of the visit, President Mahama will also cut sod for the construction of the Bole District 24-hour Economy Model Market and other development projects at the Bole College of Education.
He will further inaugurate the Mahama ICT Centre in Damongo, the Savannah Regional capital, and commission a number of educational infrastructure projects in the region.
During the working visit, the President is expected to pay courtesy calls on traditional authorities, including the Yagbonwura.
On Saturday, May 23, President Mahama, accompanied by key sector ministers including those responsible for Roads and Highways, Education, and Youth Development and Empowerment, will engage residents of the region on government achievements and ongoing policy interventions.
The citizens’ engagement, scheduled to take place at the Ndewura Jakpa SHS Assembly and Dining Hall, will provide an opportunity for residents to interact directly with government officials and raise concerns affecting their communities.
The Savannah Regional Minister is also expected to outline major development initiatives and projects being undertaken across the region’s seven districts to improve livelihoods and accelerate socio-economic growth.
President Mahama is additionally expected to inspect the site earmarked for the proposed Savannah Regional Hospital before concluding his tour of the region.
