President John Dramani Mahama will today begin a two-day #ResettingGhana Tour of the Volta Region, aimed at advancing key development initiatives, inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects, and engaging directly with the people of the region.
The tour will commence in Juapong, where President Mahama will perform the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of 18 24-hour Economy Model Markets, with one market to be built in each district across the Volta Region.
The initiative forms part of the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda to boost local commerce, create jobs, and expand economic opportunities.
As part of the first day’s activities, the President will visit the Peki College of Education (GOVCO) and the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) at Sokode.
He will also inspect ongoing construction works on the Asikuma–Ho Road being executed under the Big Push Programme, and commission the newly completed Akatsi North District Police Headquarters to strengthen security in the area.
Accompanied by Ministers of State, Heads of Institutions, and Members of Parliament, President Mahama will further host an educational durbar on the government’s Free Primary Health Care Programme, where officials are expected to educate residents on the benefits and implementation of the policy.
On the second day of the visit, Friday, President Mahama will hold a town hall meeting at Ho Technical University, providing an opportunity for chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents to engage directly with him on government policies and ongoing development projects.
The forum is expected to serve as a platform for receiving feedback and discussing the region’s development priorities.
The President will also visit the Ho Sports Stadium to assess its current condition and explore possible interventions to improve the facility.
The two-day working visit underscores the Mahama administration’s commitment to strengthening engagement with local communities while accelerating infrastructure development and the implementation of key national programmes under the #ResettingGhana agenda.
