The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has donated five oxygen concentrators, including a mobile oxygen concentrator, to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital to strengthen the facility’s capacity to provide life-saving care for newborns.
The equipment, generously provided by Rikair Company Limited, is expected to significantly improve oxygen support for premature babies and critically ill newborns admitted to the hospital’s NICU.
According to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, the five oxygen concentrators will enhance the unit’s existing capacity to care for infants requiring oxygen therapy, while the mobile oxygen concentrator will play a crucial role during emergencies and in the safe transfer of patients within the hospital.
The Fund noted that the donation comes at a time when demand for neonatal critical care services continues to increase, making access to reliable oxygen support essential for improving survival rates among vulnerable newborns.
“Contributions like these strengthen the hospital’s ability to respond when every minute matters, ensuring that more patients receive timely, lifesaving oxygen therapy,” the Fund said.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund expressed appreciation to Rikair Company Limited for supporting efforts to improve healthcare delivery, particularly for newborns in northern Ghana.
“We are sincerely grateful to Rikair for this generous donation. Thank you for partnering with us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Ghana’s youngest and most vulnerable patients up North,” the Fund stated.
The donation forms part of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund’s ongoing efforts to mobilize resources and partner with the private sector to improve healthcare infrastructure and expand access to quality medical care across the country.
