The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has issued a rallying call to party faithful, emphasizing that the success of President John Dramani Mahama is inextricably linked to the reputation and future of the entire party.
Speaking at the Jaipe-Kusugu constituency during his “Thank You” tour of the Savannah Region, Mr. Asiedu Nketia cautioned supporters against complacency, stressing that the party must present a united front to secure victory and ensure the effective implementation of their governance agenda.
“If President John Dramani Mahama fails, the Ghanaian people will not blame him alone,” the Chairman warned the cheering crowd. “They will blame the entire National Democratic Congress—a party of which you are all integral parts. His success is our collective responsibility, and his failure would be viewed as a failure of the party’s vision.”
Mr. Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as “General Mosquito,” underscored that the stakes for the upcoming electoral cycle are high. He urged the rank and file to move past internal grievances and focus on the common goal of recapturing power to “reset” the nation’s economy. “We are not just supporting an individual; we are supporting a rescue mission for Ghana,” he noted.
“The government’s agenda, once we assume office, will require the total commitment of every branch, constituency, and regional executive. We cannot afford to be divided when the task ahead is so monumental.”
The Savannah Region, a key stronghold for the NDC, served as the backdrop for this call to unity. Addressing local constituents, the National Chairman praised the people for their loyalty to the party but reminded them that the work of governance begins long before the ballots are cast. “The wind of change is blowing, but we must be the ones to steer the sails,” Asiedu Nketia added.
“Unity is our greatest weapon. If we stand together, the NDC will not only win power but will govern effectively to restore hope to the Ghanaian people.”
Party executives in the Savannah Region have pledged to intensify their grassroots mobilization efforts, echoing the Chairman’s call to ensure that the party remains focused on the “Mahama Agenda” to win the trust of the Ghanaian voter in the upcoming national elections.
