The National Democratic Congress (NDC) believes that the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, is determined to put the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, in jail unfairly. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the NDC, said that Mr Dame is not interested in justice but just wants to put someone in prison. He called Mr Dame a “torchbearer of injustice.”
Mr Asiedu Nketia also said that the court case against Dr Forson is persecution and that the government has been targeting him since 2021. He emphasized that this is political witch-hunting and persecution.
The NDC chairman said that they had to correct some wrong information about the case because Attorney-General Godfred Dame and people from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been spreading lies and confusion about it. He said it would be irresponsible for them to allow these lies to continue.
The press conference was a response to something that happened in court on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Richard Jakpa, who is also accused in the case, got angry at the Attorney-General for saying that he was defending Dr Forson in his testimony. Mr Jakpa said that the Attorney-General seemed upset because he had asked him to help the state make a case against Dr Ato Forson.
