Ekow Ewusi, known nationwide for his role in the alleged theft and disappearance of illegal mining equipment before the 2020 election has found himself in the news again, this time, over contaminated diesel imported into the country illegally.
But for the timely intervention of the Ghana Navy, National Security, and officials of the National Petroleum Authority(NPA), a former NPP Regional Executive, Ekow Ewusi would have by now sold off contaminated fuel into the Ghanaian market under an auction claiming the same to be an order of a court when the fuel is unwholesome.
According to reports, after authorities blocked him from the fuel, Ekow Ewusi declared war on Perry Okudzeto, Deputy Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority over the latter’s decision to block the auction of the illegally imported products valued at over Ghc10million.
Ekow Ewusi who is an auctioneer attempted to seize the bad fuel and sell it on the market to recover an alleged debt the owner of the cargo had to settle by court order.
The fuel remains in NPA custody.
Ekow Ewusi, has since dragged Perry Okudzeto to court for contempt for not allowing him access to the fuel said to have a higher concentration of sulfur above the allowable limit for vehicles plying Ghanaian roads.
The vessel Vessel MT Sirius Voyager (Bluefoss Products Tanker IMO 7419042) brought in the diesel consignment which failed to meet market standards while the parties to the cargo fought in court.
