According to Ernest Owusu Bempah, the NPP’s deputy director of communications, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is definitely terrified of the return of former president John Dramani Mahama.

He claimed that the NPP is indeed concerned about how Mr. Mahama will retake office and wreck the economy.

His remarks follow Mr. Mahama’s assertion that, of the four National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer candidates, only he is the only one the ruling NPP fears.

On Sunday, March 12, Mr. Mahama made this statement while on a campaign stop in Wenchi.

In the 2018 NDC primaries, he is being challenged by Mr. Ernest Kobea, a businessman, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former leader of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), and Kojo Bonsu.

But he told the gathering that he is the right person to lead the NDC as flagbearer in 2024.

He appealed to delegates of the party to vote for him to become the flagbearer.

“I am confident that God will give us a victory. Let us vote massively for the NDC and support one person. All four aspirants, the NPP are not scared of anyone except one, they are scared of Mahama,” 2020 presidential candidate for the party said.

Reacting to his comments, Mr Owusu Bempah said in a statement on Wednesday, March 15 that “Indeed, we are scared of John Mahama, why not? John Mahama is the only leader in Ghana who plunged the nation into a power crisis for almost five years, so we are scared of him coming back again.

“He is the only leader in this country who institutionalized corruption, unprecedented in the history of Ghana, no leader has institutionalized corruption than John Dramani Mahama so we are scared of him.

“We remember the GEEDA, SADA, SUBA, Guinea Fowl, Airbus scandal, bus branding cases. So we are scared of him because he is the only Vice President whose president died mysteriously. He is the only president who within forty-eight hours he became president, we never expected John Mahama to come anywhere near a position of power

“He ran down the whole banking sector, we are also scared of him because we know he doesn’t believe in education he will collapse free SHS. They will collapse all the one district one factories, he will run down the Cedi and exchange rate, we are afraid of him because Mahama will make 40 cedis to a Dorlla because these are his records, these are his impeccable records of incompetence so we are scared of him, he comes like a dreaded disease

“We see him as a dangerous beast in the first disappeared in the forest and is coming back, a dangerous politician that we should not allow him. We also heard that he is planning to amend the constitution for him to spend 8 years, he can’t spend four years, he has s strategy of amending the Constitution to stay in office for 8 years.”
