The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured the public that all qualified candidates who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be placed into Senior High and Technical Schools across the country.
In a statement issued on May 14, 2026, the GES congratulated Junior High School graduates for successfully completing the BECE and announced that preparations had been finalized to admit fresh students on September 18, 2026.
According to the statement signed by Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi for management, the Service has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure that every qualified candidate gains access to senior high or technical education.
The assurance comes amid reports circulating in sections of the media suggesting that about 72,000 students could miss out on placement this year. However, the GES dismissed the claims as speculative and inaccurate.
“We wish to indicate that all qualified candidates will be placed in schools. Every effort has been made to ensure that each student has access to senior high/technical education,” the statement emphasized.
The GES further noted that adequate infrastructure and facilities are available nationwide to accommodate all qualified students.
On the ongoing efforts to phase out the double-track system, management stated that the process would not negatively affect access to education. Instead, it said the move is expected to improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining full access for students.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to providing equitable, inclusive, and quality education for every Ghanaian child and called on stakeholders to support the national education agenda.
