A Lecturer in Bio-Statistics at the Public Health School of the University of Ghana Dr. Justice Moses Aheto is questioning the basis for the claim that Ghana is at the peak of Corona virus cases.
The claim was made by the Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service Dr. Ebenezer Badu Sarkodie.
According to him this is based on data on Ghana’s rate of Covid-19 infections which places the number of recorded cases 2,719.
Dr. Ebenezer Badu Sarkodie however says a decline in cases would only happen if Ghanaians follow prevention protocols.
In an interview with Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive, Dr. Aheto said the claim by Dr. Badu Sarkodie cannot be true.
He said the data on infection rates is accumulated hence cannot be used for any proper analysis.
The Bio-Statistics lecturer said the conclusions of Dr. Badu Sarkodie can only be made if Ghana had real time daily data on Reproduction and infection rates.
Dr. Justice Moses Aheto is convinced the data that is being generated currently cannot inform any policy analysis because of the poor quality of data which were both accumulated and obtained from a backlog of samples.
He bemoaned the hoarding of data by authorities even though testing centers were releasing results on a daily basis.
The Bio-Statistics lecturer described as “good news” the announcement by the Noguchi Memorial Institute that it would soon start real time testing after clearing the backlogs of samples.
