Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Gordon Yaw Saah, the Chief Staff Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), has been enstooled as the Gyaasehene of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area in the Eastern Region under the stool name Obrempong Boakye Tano Biri, in a colourful traditional ceremony that attracted chiefs, government officials, senior security officers and community leaders from across the country.
The enstoolment ceremony, held on our Monday at Akyem Swedru, marked a significant milestone in the life of the distinguished immigration officer whose career in public service has spanned several years across different commands and operational units of the Ghana Immigration Service.
ACI Gordon Yaw Saah currently serves as the Chief Staff Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service, one of the country’s key security institutions responsible for migration management, border security and the enforcement of immigration laws. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Second-in-Command (2IC) at the Kasoa Immigration Office in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region, where he was widely recognized for his professionalism, leadership and commitment to national security. The traditional rites were performed by the leadership of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Council amid drumming, dancing and rich displays of Akan culture. The occasion brought together a large gathering of traditional rulers, government representatives, senior officers of the Ghana Immigration Service and other security agencies, as well as family members, friends and well-wishers who came to celebrate with the newly enstooled chief. Several paramount chiefs and traditional leaders graced the ceremony, underscoring the importance of the event within the traditional governance structure of the area. Their presence reflected the confidence and trust reposed in Obrempong Boakye Tano Biri to support the development agenda and cultural heritage of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area.
A delegation from the Ablekuma Joma Zongo Community in Accra led by Kinkanku Sarki Musah Nsoh also attended the ceremony in solidarity with ACI Gordon Saah. Accompanied by traditional drummers and cultural dancers, the group added colour and excitement to the celebration as they joined hundreds of supporters in honouring the newly enstooled chief.
Speakers at the event praised ACI Gordon Saah for his dedication to public service and his contribution to national development through the Ghana Immigration Service. They expressed confidence that his wealth of experience in leadership and administration would help strengthen traditional governance and promote peace, unity and development within the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area.
The enstoolment of Obrempong Boakye Tano Biri is expected to further deepen the collaboration between traditional authorities and state institutions in advancing community development and preserving Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
