President John Dramani Mahama has declared that Ghana is ready for business and open to global investment after ringing the Nasdaq Stock Market Closing Bell in New York.
The symbolic ceremony formed part of President Mahama’s engagements on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, as Ghana seeks to strengthen international partnerships and attract investment into the country.
The Presidency had identified the Nasdaq engagement as part of efforts to promote Ghana as a leading destination for business and investment.
The ceremony also featured President Mahama’s image on the iconic Nasdaq billboard in Times Square, accompanied by the bold message: “Ghana is Open for Business.”
The display provided a high-profile platform for Ghana to project its investment opportunities and economic ambitions to an international audience.
President Mahama’s Nasdaq engagement preceded the US-Ghana Presidential Roundtable, where he is scheduled to meet with business leaders as part of efforts to deepen private-sector partnerships and mobilise investment for Ghana’s development.
The roundtable is being organised by the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce and forms part of a broader programme of engagements aimed at strengthening partnerships and encouraging investment in Ghana.
The President’s New York programme also includes meetings with world leaders, the United Nations Secretary-General and executives of multinational companies, alongside engagements at the Council on Foreign Relations and the Ocean Panel Leaders’ Meeting.
President Mahama is expected to deliver Ghana’s official statement at the UN General Debate on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
