The Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abubakari Mahama II has praised the vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Opoku Agyemang as an inspiration to women in the country.
The esteemed Overlord of Dagbon expressed confidence in Professor Nana Jane Opoku-Agyemang saying her nomination was a step in the right direction toward gender equality in politics.
The Overlord of Dagbon made these remarks when Professor Opoku-Agyemang paid a courtesy call on him at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
The Yaa-Naa stressed the need for campaigns to be issues-based instead of personal attacks.
“I wish to advise you to be guided with issues based politics and not insults as some politicians do”. Yaa-Naa’s spokesperson said.
He urged Professor Opoku-Agyemang to maintain a respectful and helpful demeanour throughout her campaign tour.
He further urged the NDC Vice presidential Candidate to take the promises outlined in the NDC’s manifesto concerning women’s issues seriously.
In response, Professor Opoku Agyemang expressed her gratitude for the Yaa-Naa’s blessing and encouragement
She assured of her commitment to advocate for policies that uplift and empower women, addressing daily challenges they are faced with.
Professor Opoku Agyemang and her team also travelled to Gushegu and the Mion constituencies where she engaged with market women, Artisans and community members.
She told voters to turn out in large numbers on election day to vote massively for John Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates contesting the December 7, elections.
Her message to the people was clear, the time for change is now!.
