Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is alleging an attempt to drag his name through the mud as he attempts to unravel the motivation for a publication of indebtedness to the MMT against him.
The MP made the allegation in Facebook post in response to a publication alleging he owes the company GH¢10,800.
It is unclear where the story is coming from considering the letter which is used as evidence is dated 17th October, 2019.
The MMT in the almost a year old letter addressed to the Speaker alleged that Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and seven other MPs have either “failed or refused” settle their indebtedness to the MMT.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in the Facebook post however says the publications are intended to tarnish his image.
The MP in the post denied the allegation and presented proof to demonstrate that he has paid all monies owed to the MMT.
He revealed the debt he incurred to the MMT in 2016 were fully settled by June 2017 and was therefore surprised at the attempt to resurrect a dead matter.
“To the best of my knowledge, I have redeemed all obligations to the Metro Mass Transit Ltd.”
“At my request, soon after the 2016 election, I demanded to know the entire amount owed for transport services rendered to my beloved constituents during the electioneering period and for which I promptly paid in full as far back as 28th June, 2017,” he stated.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa further revealed he has instructed his lawyers to write to MMT on the issue.
“Having taken notice of the well coordinated smear campaign, I have accordingly instructed my Lawyers to formally write to the Metro Mass Transit Ltd as we consider other legal options available to us,” he stated.
