President John Dramani Mahama has officially opened the Ghana Transport and Logistics Fair in Accra, calling for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to drive innovation, safety, and sustainability in Ghana’s transport industry.

The event, held at the World Trade Center in Accra, was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport in partnership with key stakeholders across the transport and logistics value chain.

The fair brought together policymakers, transport operators, investors, and development partners to explore opportunities for improving connectivity and infrastructure nationwide.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Mahama underscored the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in advancing Ghana’s economic transformation.

“The economy flourishes when government and businesses work together for the public good,” he said.

He described the Transport and Logistics Fair as a timely platform to shape the next chapter of Ghana’s transport development.

“As we gather under this program, the Ghana Transport and Logistics Fair organized by the Ministry of Transport, it is to shape the next chapter of Ghana’s transport development,” President Mahama stated.

The President emphasized that Ghana’s transport infrastructure, including roads, railways, ports, and aviation, forms part of a single, unified story of national progress.

“Every road, every rail, every ship, and every aircraft is part of a single story,” he said. “It is a story of Ghana’s national progress.”

He urged all stakeholders to work together to enhance national connectivity, promote innovation, and ensure sustainability within the transport and logistics sector.

“Together, let us enhance connectivity, promote innovation, and achieve sustainable growth for future generations,” President Mahama added.

“Let us develop a transport and logistics system that genuinely advances Ghana, efficiently, safely, and inclusively.”

The fair featured exhibitions from major public institutions and private companies, including the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the Ghana Railway Development Authority, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), and leading logistics and freight forwarding firms.

Participants showcased innovations in transportation technology, infrastructure financing, digital logistics solutions, and green mobility.

Officials from the Ministry of Transport noted that the fair forms part of ongoing efforts to modernize Ghana’s transportation network, promote investment in logistics, and strengthen the link between transport infrastructure and industrial growth.

The Ghana Transport and Logistics Fair is expected to become an annual platform for policy dialogue, investment attraction, and stakeholder engagement in Ghana’s growing transport and logistics sector.
