A former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyapong has asked President Akuffo-Addo to reconstitute his economic management team (EMT) for fresh ideas to address challenges in the economy.
Ghana’s economy is currently not doing well and many well-meaning Ghanaians have suggested solutions to help address the situation.
Some opinions suggest that challenges in the economy are largely owed to the non-performance of some of the President’s appointees and the EMT as a whole.
This has led to widespread calls for a reshuffle, and one of the names in President Akuffo-Addo’s government that has been blamed for the current economic crisis is Ken Ofori-Atta, Finance Minister.
President Akuffo-Addo has, however, shot down those suggestions, saying his appointees have performed to his expectation.
He added that those calls are largely coming from members of the opposition party who want to destabilize his administration and some jobless people in his political party.
The President further said that those calling on him to reshuffle his minister’s people looking for jobs
Responding to this, however, Kwabena Agyapong said on Accra-based Kessben TV that no one wants the job of the president’s cousin, Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta.
“Nobody is looking for Ken Ofori Atta’s job. We are looking for the economic health of this country”, he said.
