The vice presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Opoku Agyemang has appealed to Ghanaians to reject Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid for office.
Speaking at a mini rally during a campaign tour of Achimota in the Okaikoi North constituency, Professor Opoku-Agyemang cited Dr. Bawumia’s inconsistency on the 24-hour economy proposal to question his trustworthiness and fitness to occupy the office of the President.
“Yesterday, you said it’s not workable, today you’re saying it’s already in existence. Be firm in your utterances. Do we vote for such a person?” she asked the charged crowd.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang also challenged Dr. Bawumia to come up with alternative solutions to reviving the badly run economy and create needed jobs if he claims the 24-hour economy proposal is not workable.
She warned that the leadership of Dr. Bawumia would lead the country into a ditch, exacerbating the current economic woes.
“We vote because of development, not sweet talks,” she emphasized, urging voters to prioritize substance over rhetoric.
The NDC running mate also used the opportunity to rally support for the incumbent member of parliament for Okaikor north constituency, Theresa Awuni asking voters in that constituency to give Theresa Awuni four more years.
The NDC running mate was on a two day campaign tour of the Greater Accra region. On Monday August 19, she visited the Ablekuma North, Okaikoi North and Dome Kwabenya constituencies.
Professor Opoku Aguemang is expected to wrap up phase one of her campaign tour to the Greater Accra region on Tuesday August 20 with a visit to all three constituencies in Tema.
