A 51-year-old man, identified as Jibreel Hardi, has been arrested in Weija in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region for allegedly supplying and dealing in narcotic substances.
Hardi was arrested on Thursday, September 3, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by a joint team from the Special Operations Department of National Security and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
According to information from the security agencies, the operation followed sustained intelligence gathering by undercover operatives over an extended period.
The suspect was reportedly intercepted while on his way to meet a prospective buyer.
A search of his vehicle at the time of his arrest allegedly led to the discovery of large quantities of dried leaves wrapped in polythene, suspected to be cannabis, as well as several packets of Tramadol.
The security team subsequently proceeded to Hardi’s residence, where additional quantities of the suspected cannabis and Tramadol were allegedly retrieved.
A firearm and 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition were also reportedly found at the residence.
Hardi’s 42-year-old wife, Abiba Fatawu, was also arrested at the residence for allegedly acting as an accomplice and collaborator during the period of surveillance.
Both suspects have since been conveyed to the NACOC Headquarters, where they are being processed for further investigation.
The exhibits retrieved during the operation are also expected to undergo forensic examination to establish their exact nature and composition.
The arrests form part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts by Ghana’s security and law-enforcement agencies to disrupt the supply and distribution of illicit drugs in the country.
