The largest opposition party National Democratic Congress has advised Chief Executives and Director Generals of public corporations who were forced out office when the New Patriotic Party came to power in 2017 to go to court.
Not even the Governors of the Central Bank survived in office when Nana Akufo-Addo came to power with one deputy Governor revealing they were told in the face that the government does not want them in office.
Some heads of corporations were even chased out immediately the elections results were announced.
The Supreme Court however recently held that such removals are unconstitutional because the heads of public corporations are by public servants.
Commenting on the Supreme Court decision in a statement, General Secretary of the NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the judgment has brought clarity to the position of the constitution on the matter as against the provisions of the Presidential Transition Act.
“The National Democratic Congress is therefore by this statement, advising all such categories of chief executive officers and director-generals who were so affected to take appropriate steps to vindicate their rights in the appropriate fora,” he stated.
