The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has challenged Ghana Post to lead the way in sustainable logistics by transitioning to green and environmentally friendly delivery systems.
Speaking at the maiden Ghana Post Staff Durbar in Accra, the Minister said the company’s renewed growth must be matched with environmentally responsible practices as it expands its delivery network.
He urged the Board and Management to begin retooling the company’s transport fleet with electric bikes and vehicles, especially for last-mile deliveries, to reduce carbon emissions and operational costs.

“We need to retool, but even as we do, we must keep our eyes on a green fleet,” he said, adding that: “Let’s look at electric bikes and electric vehicles so our carbon footprint becomes as close to zero as possible.”
He noted that while government support for fleet replacement may be limited, Ghana Post could internally generate funds to modernise its operations.
He described the shift to a green fleet as a forward-thinking investment that would not only enhance Ghana Post’s efficiency but also position it as a leader in sustainable logistics in West Africa.

“The postal industry must think ahead, innovation today is not only digital but also environmental,” he added.
The Minister commended Ghana Post’s management for its transformation and expressed confidence that the company’s next phase of growth would reflect both operational excellence and ecological responsibility.
