Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has disclosed that she faced spiritual attacks during her initial bid for a parliamentary seat. In a video circulating on social media, Safo recounted that individuals took her photographs and collected sand from her footprints to perform rituals aimed at harming her.
She attributed her safety to the spiritual protection of her father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka. According to Safo, whenever her name was invoked during these rituals, her father would appear, thwarting any harm intended for her.
“During my first parliamentary election contest in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, some individuals took my picture and collected sand from my footprints to use in a sacred ritual. However, whenever they attempted to call out my spirit to cause harm, my father would appear to protect me,” she said.
She further narrated that it was impossible for the perpetrators to harm her because whenever her name was mentioned, her father appeared.
“It got to a point when the ritualist saw my picture, they said it was a man. When they mentioned my name, he said they should never mention that name again. As for my father, I don’t know how to thank him,” she added.
Safo has been vocal about her experiences and challenges during her tenure as an MP, including her extended absence from Parliament in 2022, which she attributed to personal and family issues.
Despite facing criticism and calls for her seat to be declared vacant, she has maintained that her actions were not intended to disrespect Parliament or her party.
In her recent public appearances, Safo has also emphasized the importance of competence over religious affiliations in political leadership, urging Ghanaians to support capable leaders regardless of their faith.
Her revelations shed light on the complex interplay between spirituality and politics in Ghana, highlighting the challenges faced by public figures in navigating both realms.
