Ama Mawusi Mawuenyefia has earned national recognition for her contribution to corporate governance and institutional leadership, ranking 8th on Avance Media Africa’s 2026 list of Ghana’s Top 100 Women Board Directors.

Mrs. Mawuenyefia serves on the Board of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) and is also Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at the Minerals Commission, positioning her within two key institutions in Ghana’s minerals sector.

Her selection forms part of Avance Media’s second assessment of women influencing governance and strategic decision-making across major public and private institutions in the country.

The 2026 study examined 100 institutions across 10 sectors, covering 895 board positions. Women occupied 232 seats, representing 25.9% of the total.

Avance Media assessed nominees on their professional experience, education, board tenure, industry expertise, leadership, impact and public presence.

Of the 100 women who made the final list, 71 are first-time entrants, while 29 also appeared in the 2023 edition.

Mrs. Mawuenyefia’s 8th-place ranking highlights her growing contribution to leadership, corporate governance and stakeholder engagement within Ghana’s extractive sector, while adding to the visibility of women occupying strategic positions in national institutions.
