“Without you our society would not be the same. Believe that whatever you are doing, in whatever category is as important as at any level.”
That is the message of the Running mate of the National Democratic Congress Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang to head porters popularly known as Kayayei.
The retired academic made the remark when some head porters joined the women wing of the NDC to pay a courtesy call on her.

The former Education minister who is partnering former President John Mahama on the NDC Presidential ticket, seemed disappointed at the kind of recognition given to the work of the head porters.
“I want you to know that you have proper names; your name is not Kayayei. You deserve the respect like everybody else. Don’t allow anybody to disrespect you,” she stated.
Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang expressed appreciation to the head porters and urged them to push their children to the heights to which they did not have the privilege to rise.
The remarks of the NDC Running mate comes in the wake of comments attributed to the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party John Boadu in the wake her nomination.
In what he suggested as popularity test, the NPP Scribe dared Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang to take a walk through Makola.
He suggested that the NDC Running mate would only be recognized by “kayayei.”
