The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, Esq., on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his residence in Peduase. The visit formed part of activities to officially brief the former President on preparations for the NPA’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
Mr. Tameklo commended former President Kufuor for his visionary leadership in establishing the NPA, highlighting how the institution has since become a cornerstone of Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector—ensuring efficiency, transparency, and consumer protection over the past two decades.
He extended a formal invitation to the former President to take part in the upcoming anniversary events, which will celebrate the Authority’s achievements and contributions to the energy industry.
Former President Kufuor, in his response, expressed deep appreciation to the NPA delegation for the gesture and accepted the invitation. He commended the Authority’s management for upholding the founding principles upon which it was established and urged the leadership to continue promoting integrity, professionalism, and accountability in all aspects of its operations.
Mr. Tameklo was accompanied by a high-powered delegation from the NPA, including Mr. Joseph Awan, Director of Risk and Chairman of the 20th Anniversary Planning Committee; Mrs. Maria Oquaye, Director of Corporate Affairs and Co-Chair of the Planning Committee; Mrs. Racheal Naa Atswei Nee-Okpey, Head of Communications; Mrs. Genevieve Bissue, Head of Protocol and Logistics; Mr. Emmanuel Mensah Hanson, Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive; and Mr. Maxwell Boakye, Special Aide to the Chief Executive.
The visit underscored the Authority’s recognition of former President Kufuor’s enduring legacy in shaping Ghana’s petroleum regulatory framework and its commitment to building upon that foundation for the continued growth and stability of the sector.
