The Institute of Energy Security (IES) is predicting the eminent collapse of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) if urgent steps are not taken to rescue it.
Executive Director for IES Nana Amoasi the VII told Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive the refinery has to spend $150,000 on the Crude Distillation Unit anytime it switches on the machine.
He also expressed fears TOR may be losing its Technical Staff to the emerging Dangote Refinery with executives of the new giant Nigerian refinery already scouting talent and expertise in Ghana.
The Tema Oil Refinery was set up to crack crude into refined fuel for use but Nana Amoasi VII says the company has not be able to crack up to 8million barrels of crude since 2017 when the Nana Akufo-Addo regime took power.
This is despite the fact that the company is on record to have cracked up to 7million barrels in one year period between from 2015 to 2016.

The IES Boss appealed to President Akufo-Addo to intervene to provide strategic leadership to revive the fortunes of the company as he was of the opinion that the Energy minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh needed to be schooled on the business of refinery.
Nana Amoasi VII is of the opinion that TOR needed the leadership that would work to build the strategic partnerships needed to restructure TOR into a company that would attract the investment needed for TOR to operate efficiently.
He expressed the fear that the emergence of Dangote Refinery may pose a threat to the long term survival of TOR if immediate reforms were not instituted.

According to the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Ranking Member on Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the leader of ICGC left because of the illegality being perpetrated by the Akufo-Addo government concerning the ongoing project. "I am not surprised that there is quite an uneasy calm at the Board of Trustees. And I can confirm to you that one imminent priest has walked away from the Board; the revered Rev Mensa Otabil is no longer there. "The whole year, he has not attended any of their meetings. It is not clear what his reasons are, but he has given indication [that all is not well]," Ablakwa said. Also, journalist Evans Mensah has said that the current members of the Board of trustees of the Cathedral are preparing to come out with a statement on the resignation of Dr. Mensa Otabil.
