A Youth Development Coach, Founder, and Director of Youth Enterprise Synergy (YES) Clement Adjei Sarfo has described Ghanaian leaders as only wishful thinkers.
He notes leaders in the country fail to back their wishes with the practical work that will bring the needed results.
Speaking to Julius Caesar Anadem of Ultimate 106.9 FM in Kumasi, he noted that the only thing the leaders are concerned about is religion and prayers which have not yielded results anywhere.
“This country has too many wishful thinkers with no practical approach, the reason we find ourselves in this mess with the abundance of natural and human resource. They resort to things that over the years have shown are not the solution but they still hold on to them. They will tell people to pray and hope. Tell me which country has succeeded with prayers as its development tool”, he wondered
“Even Israel, the Lord’s chosen people think and practicalize things. The just-ended world they were playing to qualify not praying to qualify even though they didn’t get there. If prayers could do the magic, why didn’t Israel qualify to win the world cup? Nations achieve development, not by wishful thinking and prayer but planning. We have to change a lot about our society and that includes the kind of leaders we have too”, he stressed
He urged that the school system needs to change to adopt programs that can influence development in the 21st century.
“Things we teach in our schools is not transformational, it’s just memory with no practicality”
