President John Dramani Mahama has said Ghana is seeking to deepen cooperation with Belarus in agriculture through technology transfer, skills development and investment, following the signing of three memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Speaking after the signing ceremony in Minsk during his state visit to Belarus, President Mahama said the partnership would support Ghana’s efforts to modernise agriculture and transform it into a more productive, technology-driven sector capable of creating jobs, strengthening food security and driving industrial growth.
“Our vision is not merely to increase production but to transform agriculture into a modern, technology-driven sector that creates jobs, supports industrialisation, strengthens food security, and improves livelihoods of our people across rural communities,” he said.
President Mahama noted that Ghana is implementing policies to increase agricultural productivity, expand irrigation, reduce post-harvest losses, promote agro-processing and enhance value addition across agricultural value chains.
He said Belarus has established a strong reputation in agricultural mechanisation, farm technology, equipment manufacturing and agricultural research, making it an important partner in Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda.
“These are areas where Ghana can benefit greatly through strategic partnerships, technology transfer, skills development, and investment,” he stated.
