After pulling down the residences of judges of thee higher courts and offices of state institutions as strategic as the Passport office and dolling out $25million of taxpayers money as seed money to his ‘spiritual’ project, documents are emerging that show a further GH¢25million has been released to the project.
The document is a leaked correspondence between the Finance Minister and the Controller and the Accountant General dated 31 March 2022 and headed “Seed money for the Construction of the National Cathedral”.
The letter referred to an earlier one on “17 March 2022 from the Chief of Staff, Office of the President and National Cathedral of Ghana’s memo dated 28 March 2022” and authorized the release of the sum of GH¢25,000,000 to the National Cathedral Secretariat.
According to the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta who wrote and signed the letter, the money is meant to be “additional seed money for the construction of the National Cathedral for part payment of outstanding claims from RIBADE Limited”.
