Delegates of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Awutu Senya East over the weekend elected Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor to represent the party in the Parliamentary election in 2020.
Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor polled 505 votes to emerge winner from a field made up of six men.
Alex Agbesi Aborge was her closest contender with 251 votes with Kwaku Kankah- Kesse polling 199 votes followed by Alhaji Naroun Tetteh Mensah with 98 votes.
The NDC Parliamentary candidate elect for Awutu Senya East Naa Koryoo in an address to the delegate expressed her excitement at being selected by the delegates of the largest opposition party and called on all his contenders to unite behind her for victory in 2020.
She was optimistic the Awutu Senya East Constituency will change hands from the NPP to the NDC in 2020 after the general election.
The NDC Awutu Senya East parliamentary candidate elect sent a strong signal to the NPP MP for the area Mavis Hawa Koomson she will approach the election as a hungry lion and will go all out to wrestle the seat for the NDC as well as increase the votes of former President John Dramani Mahama in the 2020 election.
Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor bemoaned the state of development, healthcare, sanitation and road networks in Awutu Senya East and pledged to change the state of affairs in the constituency when elected.
The constituency Chairman of the NDC in Awutu Senya East, Stephen Ofosu Agyare in an interview with the media stated that his party is ready to win the seat.
He congratulated all contestants in the primaries for putting up a good fight saying Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor’s victory is a victory for the NDC.
Stephen Ofosu Agyare called on all aspirants to unite and work for the victory of the NDC in 2020.
