RMG Company Ltd has strongly denied any involvement in a publication by The Fourth Estate concerning its former operations at the Apinto mining concession, insisting that it neither authorized nor endorsed the report and rejecting attempts to associate the company with its political claims.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, July 22, the company’s management said the allegations, assertions and conclusions contained in the publication were solely those of the publisher and should not be interpreted as representing RMG’s position.
The company also distanced itself from claims suggesting that the Government of Ghana, the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), or public officials supported or facilitated the takeover of its mining operations.
“RMG Company Ltd is not associated with such claims and does not wish to be drawn into political discourse or partisan controversy,” the statement emphasized.
According to the company, it has maintained a professional and constructive working relationship with the Government of Ghana and its institutions, stressing that the mining industry can only flourish through collaboration, mutual respect and adherence to the country’s legal and regulatory framework.
RMG further expressed appreciation to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, as well as the leadership and technical staff of the Minerals Commission, for what it described as their guidance and continuous engagement. The company said their support has been crucial in helping restructure its operations and lay the foundation for the restoration of mining activities.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to investing in Ghana, revealing that it is actively working towards the full restoration of its operations. It said the revival is expected to create sustainable employment opportunities for more than 5,000 young Ghanaians while ensuring full compliance with environmental standards and all applicable mining regulations.
RMG also urged the media, stakeholders and the general public not to attribute any political commentary or position arising from the publication to the company.
The statement concluded by reaffirming RMG’s commitment to maintaining cordial relations with the government, regulators, traditional authorities, host communities and business partners as it seeks to contribute to Ghana’s economic growth and national development.
