Vice President of Dunkwa Small Scale Mining Association Benjamin Annan is convinced President Akufo-Addo cannot fight Galamsey.
According to Benjamin Annan, the only thing President Akufo-Addo can do to ameliorate the situation is to ensure all miners both legal and illegal reclaim the land after mining.
President Akufo-Addo in his latest comments on the galamsey menace promised to eradicate the phenomenon.
“We are here to eradicate galamsey and surely, it would be eradicated. No government has shown that resilience in the fight against galamsey,” President Akufo-Addo stated during a meeting with the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
In an earlier interview with Sena Nombo on the Gold Morning Conversation, Vice President of Dunkwa Small Scale Mining Association Benjamin Annan says the President is unable to actively fight the menace because it is dominated by his party members.
He pointed to the failure of President Akufo-Addo to make any gains in the galamsey fight which he began when he assumed office in 2017.
He said the President has rather watched on while his appointees have joined galamsey activities and taken front roles in the menace.
Benjamin Annan pleaded with President Akufo-Addo to beg his “people” to reclaim the land after mining.
