President of the Concerned Small Scale Miners Association Michael Kwadwo Peprah has dismissed claims by President Akufo-Addo that he lost parliamentary seats in the mining areas because of his fight against galamsey.
According to him the President and his party paid for perpetuating what called “redistribution of wealth” in the mining areas.
President Akufo-Addo has attributed his poor performance in the mining areas to his fight against illegal mining.
He said the electorates in those areas were unhappy that his fight has obstructed their businesses.
In an interview with Sena Nombo on the Gold Morning Conversation President of Concerned Small Scale Miners Michael Kwadwo Peprah said the President is not being truthful.
According to him the President lost votes because the people in the mining areas saw his wealth redistribution agenda.
Michael Kwadwo Peprah said the so called galamsey fight was a ploy to take concessions from business men and hand over to his party faithful.
He highlighted instances when small time galamseyers were arrested and jailed while big time galamseyers were allowed to mine huge areas and forest reserves with excavators and earth moving equipment.
